#85: Thrift Through The Fillmore.
It’s a classic pursuit; this lengthwise traversal of San Francisco. Its 90-something micro-hoods have inspired and birthed a million thrift shops and consignment boutiques. There are SO many, yelp or google maps doesn’t register them all. Today, I stumbled upon a mecca of thrift shops –– ripe with hidden thrift store treasures –– in a neighborhood about five blocks wide and two miles long stretching from the Marina to Haight Ashbury, The Fillmore. For some, thrift shopping is…
#84: Catholic Mass At Grace Cathedral.
No matter which Cathedral you go to in the city, just go to one, at least once. They’re all amazing in their own higher power, architecturally stunning, sheer beauty kind of way. This Sunday morning I went to the Grace Cathedral, a few feet away from my apartment in Nob Hill. Among the many, I found 10 fantastic reasons to go back: The church is beautiful both inside and out, a rare combination of spacious size and exquisite features…
#83: Score An Apt in Nob Hill, SF.
When I moved here on a whim from the East Coast in July 2013 with practically nothing but two suitcases, I NEVER thought it would take me this long to find a home in San Francisco. With a random 30-year-old woman who had already lived there for 10 years.…
#82: San Francisco’s Exploritorium After Dark.
There’s really two sides to the Exploritorium on Pier 15. One side you see during daylight: a kid’s museum with neat exhibits and artifacts and science oddities that appears naive and innocent in the sunlight. There’s usually strollers and kids running rampant outside its doors with no costumes, alcohol or late-night mischieva to be found. The other side you see only on Thursday nights from 6:00 to 10:00 PM when the kiddos are asleep: the Exploritorium After…
#81: Get A Black & White Photo Taken.
One of my favorite photoshoots ever! Black & White taken with good friend @DianaClock at the Kari Orvik Tintype Studio in San Francisco. Watching Kari go through the dark room process was incredible. She’s so talented –– you wouldn’t believe all the magazine covers she’s graced with her amazing work. (Thanks, Kari –– We loved you!) If you want a black & white photo taken, this is THE place to go in California, Kari Orvik TinType Studio. Pro-tips: Kari takes couples, kids, families, friends,…
