A news platform dedicated to celebrating the hard work, humility, authenticity & stewardship of Richmond, VA’s people: the makers, storytellers & community builders who push innovative city forward.

When done right, a good story can bring the depths of a city to life, spark debate and shape a positive image for the rest of the world to see. Richmond is one of those cities that deserves the world’s attention. With its award-winning restaurants on Shockoe Slip, its top-notch talent graduating from the #1 advertising school in the country, its, powerful corporate businesses like Phillip Morris, Dominion Power and Altria, its rival sports teams, its breathtaking topography along the James River, and its geographic proximity to the entire eastern seaboard – only 5.5 hours from New York City. Only 90 miles south of Washington, D.C. and the Capitol of Virginia, Richmond has a powerful influence, appeal, and loyalty. Probably way more than many know. Everyone’s favorite poet, Edgar Allan Poe, grew up in Richmond. The famed Jefferson Hotel downtown used to have live alligators up until the 1940s.

Yet despite this small but mighty city’s budding potential to reach the national stage in many areas, Richmond still faces a couple challenges. Starting with showcasing the hard-working residents & entrepreneurs keeping the city alive. Without their spirit, Richmond wouldn’t be what it is today: a mecca for artists, chefs, musicians, movie sets, booming businesses, talented students, and young professionals.

How does Richmond increase its visibility, positioning and appeal; gain world-class talent; boost its business positioning; increase its population; and boost its travel and tourism?

Highlighted the city in a local publication loved by residents, locals and tourists city-wide called Richmond Grid Magazine. Beyond that, promoted the people who roll up their sleeves and propel Richmond forward – from startup owners to creators to civic leaders, and more.
