From overlooked to hired: helped transform how employers view, hire, and advocate for people with disabilities nationwide.
The Industry: Nonprofit & Disability Employment
The Rub: People with disabilities are often overlooked, passed over, or ignored in the workforce today. In turn, this gives them little hope, aspiration and motivation to show their value, strengths and abilities. Another reality is that employers are presented with too many hiring options today often choosing highly capable people over people with disabilities. That means those people with disabilities consistently remain at the bottom of the interview, applicant and hiring list.
The Mindset: I’m just hoping I can get a simple, low visibility job at Starbucks, Publix, Gas Station or Walmart, keep the job, get some praise and provide me enough money to live on.
The Urgency: Ever year this population declines in volume in the overall workforce. They’re passed over for desirable jobs in corporate America and displaced to other less-desirable jobs in less desirable geographic areas. That said, there’s a critical need to reshape the national conversation around disability employment so that employers can recognize and implement change management in their workforce.
The KPIs: Hiring rates. Employee reviews & testimonials. Job score satisfaction.
