source america®

A U.S. nonprofit agency located in Vienna, Virginia, SourceAmerica® creates employment opportunities for people with disabilities through its national network of affiliated nonprofit agencies.

SourceAmerica® (Formerly The National Institute for Severely Handicapped) wants to expand the hiring of hiring of people with disabilities across the U.S. to potential employers. But let’s face it: people with disabilities have consistently struggled with being hired in stable, long-term positions across the many industries of today’s workforce. In the United States alone, 48.9M people have at least 1 form of disability. From physical impairments to mental ones, these challenges pose limitations on their lives and the world’s accessibility. To put that number into perspective, take a look around you next time you’re in a public space. 20% of Americans live with at least 1 disability/ 35% of working-age people with disabilities are employed. And 15% of people worldwide live with disabilities. Even though their work ethnic, skills and determination stack up alongside the best employees out there.

Without improving the world’s accessibility, we do a disservice to the disabled. The quality of life for those living with challenges is reduced as we limit them from living up to their full potential. SourceAmerica believes that accessibility can be much higher.

How does SourceAmerica® change the way employers view the work performance of people with disabilities, raise the hiring standards, and push DE&I initiatives to get more people hired nationwide?

Helped increase the hiring rates of and changed the way Americans view people with disabilities, by building out marketing vehicles and initiatives for them to share their voice & stories on.
