#64: Run The Stanford Dish.
Feeling a little like Forrest Gump in this quick snapshot, yet still ran my little heart out nonetheless. The hills were a B$%TCH, but it felt good to reach the zenith and peer out to the entire Northern California countryside at eye level. Let’s see if we can keep this going on a regular basis. My fingers are crossed and my laces are double tied.

IF AND BEFORE you run a half, just remember: It’s NOT for the faint of heart. Everything –– the weather, the course, the prep, the sustenance, the running buddy, the end goal –– makes a difference between ending happy and ending miserable. This was my 1st half-marathon. Ever. What’s the best way to clear a writer’s mind? On a run. On cobblestone streets and packed sidewalks. In busy cities and industrial neighborhoods. With the morning sunshine and street noise to your back, and clear skies and inspiring architecture straight ahead. Today is my clear-the-mind kind of day. One hour and three minutes, two damp socks, 47 preloaded songs and a new life plan later, I’m ready for the next adventure. But more on that in the next post. Right now, I’m still sweaty…
