#81: Get A Black & White Photo Taken.
One of my favorite photoshoots ever! Black & White taken with good friend @DianaClock at the Kari Orvik Tintype Studio in San Francisco. Watching Kari go through the dark room process was incredible. She’s so talented –– you wouldn’t believe all the magazine covers she’s graced with her amazing work. (Thanks, Kari –– We loved you!) If you want a black & white photo taken, this is THE place to go in California, Kari Orvik TinType Studio. Pro-tips: Kari takes couples, kids, families, friends,…
#79: Live Only In Bridge Cities.
I’ve just discovered, I’ve only ever lived in bridge cities. Cities by the coast, hugging a shoreline, with bridges connecting it to the rest of the world. Think I’ll ever live inland? Nope… Born right outside of Washington, DC, I spent the first couple years going back and forth across the Arlington Memorial Bridge in DC. Then, Charleston, SC was home for the next 10 years, and there I was 5 minutes from the Cooper River Bridge. Lacking…
#78: See The Gritty Side Of San Francisco.
What’s your favorite abandoned spot in San Francisco? Some are break-in-able, some open to the public, some only for the intrepid… This one is mine: an empty abandoned lot in the middle of the city –– stretching from Cow’s Hollow to Russian Hill to the Marina and back. It might be an empty lot, but it’s full of promise. #glasshalffull #concretejungle #promising #inspired#SanFrancisco Have more undiscovered or untapped places in San Francisco? Let me know! Leave a hint and I’ll…
#74: Six Degrees Of Separation In SF.
After four hours of networking, hob-knobbing and mingling at the Social Media Club of San Francisco’s biggest event of the year, “Social Media and the News” last night, I discovered a stark reality about social networking: The proximity of interacting online and offline in social media is a lot closer than we think. About six degrees of separation closer. By some way of introduction, friend-of-a-friend connection, or chain of six total steps, we were all somehow “Six Degrees of Separation” from…
#71: Halloween At The Cal Academy Of Sciences.
The California Academy of Sciences is NOT usually the place you’d expect to find: Earthquakes and tremors. A massive aquarium. Wall-to-wall exotic fish tanks. A human brain you could actually touch if you so desired. (yes, really) A tastefully done drag queen contest. Crazy costumes: two being a rain cloud and bag of jelly beans. Steaming hot pork buns –– lightly baked to perfection –– in the shape of stars and constellations. Star gazing on the…
