If, and when, your dad ever calls you on a random, sunny afternoon and asks if you’re sitting down, just do it. And listen up. Because if your dad is anything like my dad –– the Boston-born, Ex-Cop, tough love kind of dad –– his dry humor is always on and he’s always trying to surprise you. My dad did 2 weeks ago: called out of the blue and said he was coming to my neck of the woods, a.k.a. California. First, to Long Beach for a job, then swinging through San Francisco to see what I was up to. After spending a loooooonnnnnggggg weekend in Long Beach to properly introduce him, he’s now in SF for two days. Where do I take him? To the best pizza and beer place I can think of. (thanks, Dad, this was THE best birthday surprise a girl could get!)
