Dear next Rest Area: Please magically appear on the side of the road soon. Maybe I should have brought my own toilet paper,
Your anxious pit-stopper
Taking full advantage of our just-made-up “Road Trip Rules”, the bestie and I have started our epic road trip from Virginia to New Orleans with the bucket list mentality in mind.
First stop: Wytheville VA, where the world’s BIGGEST pencil is (We can all dream, can’t we?)
Somewhere along the way: Chattanooga, TN (Because it sounds cool.)
A definite must-stop: Knoxville, TN (Because it also sounds cool.)
A necessary stop: pit stops and rest stops (many, since we have such small bladders.)
A food stop, among many: Smoothie King for fuel and sustenance
A necessary stop: grandmother-style, hourly pee breaks
A photo opportunity: Snaps from the person who’s NOT driving
An Instagram-worthy stop: Do-It-Yourself Sandwich “Make-your-own-at-the-local-produce-stand”
The last & final stop: New Orleans, LA
Stop #1: Wytheville, VA We came, we saw, we conquered the world’s biggest pencil. Which Sinead was super excited about. Her homework could be finished.
Stop #2: A random Tennessee rest stop
ME:: Umm, what are you doing? Sinead:: What does it look like I’m doing? Wee… ! Me:: Hold up, I wanna frolic down the extra-long staircase too. Here, take my picture.
Stop #3: A staple crop on our 18-hour roadtrip to New Orleans, corn stalks.
Stop #4: A random park in Knoxville, TN
Unfortunately, Yelp was no help, giving us an over-priced, not-so-yummy margarita place to try out. Of course, Chipotle was next door the entire time.
Lesson: Don’t overpay on ‘margs or chips.
Stop #5: Somewhere, Chattanooga, TN
Double the action –– and the fun.
Thanks to our frequent buyer card, we got 2 for the price of 1.
[Left: Double the Smoothie, Double the King]
Stop #6: Hello from the world’s longest wooden pedestrian bridge!
