Returning home from New Orleans was heartbreaking but in hindsight, I found the silver lining in the cloud: When you’re direction-less at the end of a crazy, fun summer, the best way to find it again is seeing a friend get married.
My best friend since the 8th grade, Kat, was getting married to her best friend Rogers, and she asked me to be a Bridesmaid. Before she could finish and spout off the venue and flowers, I screamed and jumped for joy. YES, of course I would be!
But little did I know, being a Bridesmaid in a wedding brings its own kind of excitement. Excitement in the form of good luck, bad luck, tradition and superstition. Throughout the wedding planning and even on the big day, we faced a little of everything. But I’ll spare you all the boring stories and leave only the funny stuff here and let you decide what kind of luck I had:)
- Bad Luck or Good Luck? On wedding day, I found a spider crawling near the train of her wedding dress. Of course, I, of all people would find it and become ghostly pale.
- Bad Luck or Good Luck? On the day of while the four other bridesmaids and I were getting our hair done, the skies opened up on us and starting spitting down rain.
- Bad Luck or Good Luck? Despite the rain earlier that day and the little known fact that Saturdays are the unluckiest day of the week to get married, the sun gods made that Saturday perfect and Kat told me she fought forever to get a Saturday booking before landing this one.
